Premier Health's existing Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio recently completed a renovation comprised of a 20,600 SF Emergency Room Department addition and a 1,000 SF MRI addition to the Imaging Department, along with 15,900 SF of renovated space for an expanded waiting room and public corridor, a CT and Radiographic Suite in the Emergency Room and renovated Emergency Department Administration Suite.

The Emergency Department addition is a 36-bed clinical space with a behavioral health suite, decontamination room, three infection control rooms and three decentralized nurses stations, which allow the level and location of staff to be flexed up or down, depending upon need within the Emergency Department. Our firm is designing departments that ensure a clear line-of-sight from staff work areas to all treatment stations, which promotes patient monitoring and early recognition of clinical decompensation. Decentralized nursing stations are coupled with centralized meeting rooms for consultation between staff members, to strike a balance between the increase in computer duties and the ongoing need for communication and consultation of direct patient care.

Project completed by PDT Architects, a subsidiary of SFA.
